We had our anatomy scan and our perfect little person is just that. An absolutely perfect little person. All the parts were in the right place, doing what they were supposed to be doing. Here’s a really cute profile:
Soooooo? Our little person was very stubborn, and spent a good portion of the ultrasound with his or her legs closed demurely.
Because I’m a good little blogger, and I know how eager YOU all were to know if it was a boy or a girl, I decided to take matters into my own hands, and poked the crap out of the kid. Maybe this is an exaggeration, maybe not. Only Me and Luke and the Ultrasound tech know for sure. And we’re not telling. The good thing, is that kiddo needed only a jab to the knees to give up the goods. So. Are we wearing ruffle butts or golf shirts and loafers?
We’re having a BOY!!! Is anyone surprised? I’m not. I may have had a 50/50 chance of being right, but for the life of me I couldn’t see anything but a boy. We are so incredibly thrilled to have a healthy baby in there, and are now even more eager to meet the little guy.
So here’s the money shot that our tech so patiently waited for:
His left leg is up and the dark spot is his belly and bowel. And I think the rest is pretty self explanatory, and the first of many embarrassing photos that will grace this blog in the next several years. =)
A few times he kicked or turned while we were watching him and I felt it at the same time- such a thing to wrap your brain around! I also know now that his head is down, and he’s facing mostly out- with his little legs crossed just below my belly button. I know he doesn’t stay there exclusively, but it was crazy to see how cramped he really is! I was imagining flips and turns and him gliding across my spacious uterus. Turns out most of that movement is just arms and legs and a butt wagging around! Kind of puts things in perspective.
So there it is. We’re totally in love with our little guy- and now must start a serious name search. We had all kinds of great girl names, but boy names are harder. Send ideas our way! I hear Robert Winston is on the market, right Boompa? It DOES have a lovely ring to it… =)
Sara and Luke, he is so perfect and beautiful (sorry, the little guy IS beautiful). We are so excited and happy for you both – and for all of us.
Love,
Sandy and Frank
I agree- He’s beautiful. We were all just entranced with his heart. You could see all the valves flapping open and closed… his little mouth gulping up all that fluid like a little guppy. Too much love for just one day. =}
YYYYYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!! Now I know what color blanket to start crocheting 🙂 Love you, Luke and baby Mumford.
Kelly~
YES!! We are accepting any and all fuzzies. New or used, crocheted or steel belted… haha. His nursery theme is “Handmade chic”. 😉
Awwww…..congrats on your little boy! So happy for the 3 of you!
Thanks, Pam! Can’t wait for you to meet the little guy. He’ll be a travelin man, that’s for sure. =)
So happy for you and Luke! Hooray for you both and your little man!
Thanks, Nikki! I only hope I can make it all look easy (like you guys did), while blundering and screwing up and trying again and again, and again…
Changing boy diapers will be interesting. I know the washcloth trick. Question is… Should I teach it to Luke? =D
