3 1/2 Months And a Few New Tricks

Lately I haven’t had much time to add to the blog, but our little dude is crashed IN HIS CRIB and I thought I’d take advantage. Grey’s a few days short of 3.5 months, and has had another burst of development. But first, we can talk about My Birthday!!

The weekend was cloudy, cool, and drizzly- Luke did some works outside and I brought Grey around to hang out with dad. We took him on his first walk in the jogging stroller without the carseat insert. This means he gets to sit facing forward and see what’s going on:

Finally, it’s hat weather!

Grey’s in his bunting.

Next day we took Mr. Moose for a walk. Good times.

Standing in line in the rain- ChowderFest 2012! Found a few new places with really good soup- just in time for fall and winter.

I have to stick this picture in as many times as possible- it cracks me up!

Mooooom! Not the junk! NOT the junk!! Geez…

And a few videos: You will laugh if you watch this first one. If not, you are a robot. His first real laughs and first sign that he can anticipate are on this video, recorded on my birthday. Such a fun gift!

This next one is just him on Evelyn’s activity mat (she’s two months older and has moved on to the bouncy chair!). He’s never acknowledged his feet until today. Now he’s watching them, grabbing his legs, and using his feet to mess with the toys. Pretty cool stuff!

Maybe now that he’s done learning all this new stuff he can start sleeping through the night again. He’s been eating a ton and waking up to eat around 2 am every night. He’s taller, and not quite as rolly polly as he was a few weeks ago looks like he’s in that fat-tall-fat-tall cycle we see in babies.

This picture make my heart swell… how lucky am I?

50 Faces of Grey

I get comments all the time about how “expressive” Grey is. No doubt about it, he gets his doofy faces from me. It’s too late now to do anything but take a ton of photos I can torment him with when he’s an awkward teenager. All I can think with that last face is, “Fuuurrrrt”

The first set of faces. =)

This is the morning I left him and Luke for a few hours to work.

3 Months!

Our beautiful, wonderful, happy baby is now 3 months old! Here are some pics I took on Thursday; I’ve been trying to get them online for the past 3 days with no luck. Mr. Grey is a bossy little beast. I know I was the perfect infant, so I can only assume this is how Luke was as a baby. =)

Turns out the “Month” stickers are pretty tasty!

As are stuffed owls…

NOM!

This is what happens when we prop him up- he’s so eager to lean forward that he ends up tipping over. He wants to not only sit up straight, but be leaning over and looking down at whatever he’s playing with.

Our beautiful boy

His hands spend a LOT of time in his mouth

Big brown eyes

“Oh no, you did NOT just call me bossy!”

Sitting up on his own to hang out with Darwin. Those two are going to be buddies. And no, he can’t actually sit up yet- If he’s not too squirmy we can sit him up and his buddha belly kind of props him there. Ha!

At his 2 month appt he was 14.8lbs (98th percentile). According to our scale, he’s now 16lbs which is somewhere in the 75th-90th percentile for weight! He seems to have elongated some but we haven’t measured his height. Eschewing numbers, this boy is strong and healthy. That’s all a mama and daddy can ask for.

As far as his daily happenings, he can now smoothly reach to grab things and put them in his mouth. When he talks, he actually sounds like he’s telling a story- the inflection is there. He has a decent sleep routine- about 8hrs alone at night and another 2 or so on the couch with me, then 2 naps during the day. We’re practicing napping in the crib- he doesn’t sleep as deeply but isn’t concerned at all about being left in there. Good enough for me.

He’s starting to watch us eat. It’s a little disconcerting, but so far he’s not trying to actually eat our food. He’s just figuring out what we’re doing. I don’t think he’s teething, but he’s definitely chewing on stuff and drooling a lot so we’ll see. What else? He likes more songs now (but still favors the old standards). Raffi has made his youtube appearance to rave reviews.

I think that’s it for now- I can hear him grunting in the other room. Love.

Sleep Happens

Our first nap in the crib was an impromptu one. I just stuck him in there with his mobile so I could grab clean diapers from the dryer. I came back up with them and he was toast. Now I’m just sitting. It’s awesome. Although, the tune from the mobile is reaaaallly annoying and being imprinted on my brain like a branding iron to, well, to brain. I need a cookie.

You wanna piece of this?!

I think it was this last moment when Grey realized I wasn’t bringing him with me. Luckily, he and daddy got along just fine and I returned home 4 hours later to Luke wearing a sleeping Grey in the Ergo.

Good morning to Mr. TWELVE Weeks!

We wake up so happy! It’s just wonderful. Grey is now 12w old and is a happy little drool factory! He still only giggles occasionally, but gives huge smiles every time you tickle his ribs or greet him. He’s much more demanding and runs his dad ragged walking from door to window to wall to window to window etc… he wants to be propped straight up so he can look down and see his toys. Everything goes to his mouth and one of his new favorites is chewing on one of our fingers wrapped in a blanky. Ahhh, what else? How about a few more pictures? 🙂

Deep Breath!

I just realized today that he does this. Funny little duck!

First Boat Ride

We took Grey on Heather and Tom’s boat for labor day; it was totally worth the two hours it took to find an infant sized life jacket! Grey loved the jacket (amazingly) and spent much of the ride napping. He looked around a bunch and talked and laughed as well. This smile is the one I get most frequently- it’s my favorite because he uses it when he’s happiest. It’s like he wants to give us the biggest and best smile and can’t really figure out how! On a side note, Grey spontaneously busted out a few dance moves and cooed and smiled along to Johnny Cash singing Ring of Fire today. Love this kid.
