Mama has a cheering squad!

Looks like I’ll have am audience for my elliptical workout from now on. I got him down for his nap and I heard him squawk on the monitor exactly 40sec into my first attempt. Fingers crossed for 2nd attempt!

The Best Cookie I Ever Ate

These cookies have brewers yeast, flax, and oats- this is why they’re called “Lactation Cookies”. The great thing is that these ingredients are very good for everyone! I am in LOVE with them- I’ve adapted the recipe by Noel Trujillo. My changes are below. I really think the coconut oil, peanut butter, and pecans made a HUGE difference. These are not, I repeat, NOT diet cookies. But worth every calorie. I promise. =)

Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Lactation Cookies By Noel Trujillo Recipe – Food.com – 192346.

1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup coconut oil
1 cup (or less) sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
4 tablespoons water
2 (heaping) tablespoons flax seed meal
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
3 cups oats
1 cup chocolate chips
2 -4 (heaping) tablespoons brewer’s yeast
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup nuts (I used pecans)
Directions: 1 Preheat oven to 350°. 2 Mix the flaxseed meal and water and let sit for 3-5 minutes. 3 Beat butter, sugar, and brown sugar well. 4 Add eggs and mix well. 5 Add flaxseed mix and vanilla, beat well. 6 Sift together flour, brewers yeast, baking soda, and salt. 7 Add dry ingredients to butter mix. 8 Stir in oats and chips. 9 Scoop onto baking sheet. 10 Bake for 12 minutes. 11 Let set for a couple minutes then remove from tray.

Outtakes

Most of these aren’t true outtakes but rather some pics that just haven’t been shared. No reason other than that I don’t want to bombard everybody; I take dozens of pictures everyday. 🙂

2 Months!

I took Grey to his 2 month visit over a week ago and haven’t posted the numbers! Grey weighed in at a whopping 14lbs, 12oz (97th percentile!) and is 23.5 inches long. His length and head circumference is in the 75th percentile. What does this mean? It means what we already know- we’ve got ourselves a chunk! Ok- on to the pictures!

How cute is this whiny face?? He was not thrilled about taking pictures. =)

We got a really cool teether from Laura- he’s pondering… “What the heck am I supposed to do with that?!”

Oooohhhh, that makes sense… OMNOMNOM, Chomp… drool…

Our morning sing-a-long is one of my favorite times. He wakes up so happy!

Grey talks, squeals and howls, shout, and laughs! Last night he let out his first real Ha! Ha! laugh last night! It was after a bath, and he was in my arms watching Luke like a hawk. As soon as Luke noticed and began to talk to him, Grey was all smiles, laughing, talking to him, and swinging those fat little arms at him! It was possibly the cutest thing we’ve ever seen. He went on for a good 15min, and then crashed hard for bedtime.

Which brings me to a wonderful new development; 9 hours straight sleep last night! This kid has given us 8 hours or more most every night for the past week! It’s heaven. =) He woke me this morning at 5am with a shout, and was all smiles by the time I picked him up from his crib. I couldn’t ask for more!

Other than that, he’s just starting to reach for me and Luke, he’s standing (holding his own weight) for longer and longer. His balance is getting better, and he’s discovered TV. Uh-oh. The good thing is he’s happy watching cooking shows and soccer, and only for a few minutes. All those colors and movement just grab his attention- he even leeeaaaannns as far as he can towards it. ha!

He still wears most of his 0-3month clothes, but we cloth diaper about 75% of the time, and that makes some of them too tight. Worth it though, we’ve already saved a ton of cash, and his little bum has been rash free since we started a few weeks ago. =)

Ok- this was a big purge. I hope to get another post up sooner rather than later. Much love and some slobbery baby kisses!

Baby Howls

Pardon the surprise at the end- I got more than I bargained for! =)

Couch Time

image

Today is one of those days. He opens his eyes and I brace myself for one of two things: a smile, or a scream. Luckily, I caught the smile this time. 🙂

8 Weeks!

No laughing or comments related to the vocal stylings of this mama… *sigh* the things we do for a laugh…

Our cute little guy is now 8 weeks old! He let out his first laugh a few days ago (he was talking to Luke at the time), has been smiling and cooing at strangers, and is now attempting to mimic sounds. I was brushing my teeth last night and heard a strange noise coming from the bedroom. I went in to find Luke and Grey howling at each other. Granted, Grey’s howl was more of an attempt than anything else, but he was watching Luke intently, pursing his lips, and making an “Oooo” sound. Cutest. Thing. Ever.

He also has been showing preference for songs- last week he was ALL ABOUT “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”, and this week he seems to be more of a “Yellow Submarine” kind of kid. As you can see from the video. =)

Gotta go- I’m gonna kick Luke’s butt at Mario Bros while Grey is crashed out. Gotta get that quality time while we can. Smooches!

Watch “Nap time is for wussies!” on YouTube

Luckily, he still goes down on his own at night, but our nap times have become a little more challenging. Good thing he’s so cute!

The Lap Tyrant

image

It took 2hrs and a carefully crafted lap-substitute to escape my little sleep evader today… let’s hope it sticks this time!

Old outfits

This had me laughing so hard! Both of these outfits belonged to my dad as a baby (or maybe one was his brothers? I can’t imagine needing the furry thing in July…) I think Grey has passed a vote on which one he prefers!

I swear I only let him make the “I’m seriously going to cry now” face. No baby hearts were hurt for the capture of this wonderful photo!
