Pa and Mimi’s Visit(s)

We had a fantastic time with Frank and Sandy the last 2 weekends. They went off on a New England driving vacation during the week and a little on both ends. Grey got all kinds of snuggling in, and took all his naps in the arms of someone who loves him very much. I’ve said it before, but this is one lucky kid. Here are some highlights:

I love this picture; Pa and Mimi are already wrapped around his chubby little finger. πŸ˜‰

Introductions

Assuming the most common position at the Stafford house these days. =)

We miss you already and I’m sure we’ll see you again soon! Much Love!

Water Baby?

As relaxed as he looks in the pic, he actually didn’t love his first day at the lake. I can hardly blame him as it was hot and humid and he was grouchy from a long day. Still, it was good for our first attempt, with many more to follow. Also, he got to meet Jill and Matt (Matt is a coworker of Luke’s)! Here’s a pic of the 2 of us:

Also yesterday, we went to Erin’s mom’s house in N Woodstock, NH. Honorary Grandma was thrilled to have TWO little babies in the house- Evelyn was born about 3 months ago (Erin and I met at prenatal yoga). It was such a good way to get out of the house, and Grey did a great job being all cute and stuff. =)

No time at the moment for a real entry, but this kid is still adorable! Don’t know his weight now, but the rolls don’t lie. πŸ™‚

I need to wait til he’s asleep to try again, but I actually love this picture as well! He was totally confused by the whole crocheted situation…

Practicing his pout with those huge brown eyes. I may end up getting a taste of my own medicine!

Tell me alllll about it!

We had a grumpy monkey on our hands this morning. The good thing is that he’s so expressive and cute that I can’t get too exasperated. πŸ™‚

Distortion

I’m trying not to have a mini freak out over this, but I just received a birth announcement in the mail. This in itself isn’t a surprise, but the picture on the card sure was! I’ve been using this app for over a year and have never had a problem. I have to assume that ALL of our loved ones received a picture of Grey that was completely distorted and sideways. Ugh. I’ll be getting fresh ones sent out, but in the meantime, know that our child is not wider than he is long (and if he were, we would love him anyway)!

A few pictures:

His first PLAID!! I love this little outfit.

This is what I have dubbed “Baby Jail”. You can see that he’s absolutely furious at being crammed in the moby wrap. =) But really, when he’s fussy in the afternoons, this works miracles!

Fourth of July was a bust. He got to wear the cute outfit, but due to thunderstorms and some extra fussiness (maybe it was the weather??), we stayed home. We’ll try for fireworks again next year.

Grey’s currently in Baby Jail again, sleeping soundly. He had his 2 week appointment on Tuesday and had gained another 3 oz. So he’s up to 9lbs 10oz, and 21 1/2 inches long. He got a beautifully clean bill of health, and is currently in the 77th percentile for size. I’m very happy with that number! His umbilical cord fell off yesterday as well.

That’s all I’ve got in terms of updates, but I’ll be sure to add pics as the opportunity arises!

A huge THANK YOU to all of you for your love and support. I’ve said it before, but I mean it so much!! =)

Hope everyone had a safe and happy fourth!

One Week Old Today!

You all have been very patient! On June 20th, 2012, I gave birth to the cutest little creature I have ever seen. Grey Emerson Stafford weighed in at a whopping 8lbs 14oz, 21 1/4 inches long, and his healthy meter is off the charts.

Luke and I went into the hospital on Monday night to begin induction. I’m going to spare details other than to say that it was a very, VERY tough 2 days with little progress. On Wednesday afternoon, I had finally dilated enough to have my water broken and when they did that, Grey began having difficulty tolerating my contractions. His little head had just been squeezed for too long. Long story short, he was delivered by c section at 630 that night. It was a quick and painless (really!!) procedure performed in a relaxed atmosphere because we chose to do this before our little boy was in any real distress.

Luke was able to hold him right away, and I had the honor not long after. He has been so perfectly healthy this whole time, I just can’t believe how lucky we are.

At his 1 week appointment (he was 6 days old) he had already regained to his birth weight +8oz! Methinks we will have a sweet little buddha baby on our hands. I couldn’t be happier!!

Okay, on to the pictures!!

He came out screaming- best sound in the entire world.

This is a better representation of his personality. Very little (short of a diaper change) will tick him off.

One of my favorites.

Headed home! This outfit lasted partway through the 45 minute drive until an epic poop-splosion paired with a spit-up fest forced us to change tack. Ahh well.

Grey and his dad

Grey with Grandma

Grandpa showed up in the nick of time!

Great Granny and Grey (on the phone call rock) =)

How cute is THIS!!? Mom knitted these cocoons for our little bug.

Luke solved the diaper change issue. Grey screams are no match for noise cancelling headphones!!

This weekend Pa and Mimi (Frank and Sandy) are coming up from Boerne, TX. We can’t wait to see them and share the squish!

We love all of you and thank you so much for sharing this experience with us! I’ll keep posting pics as opportunities arise.

In case you were wondering …

Have you had that baby yet?

Due Dates are Overrated… or… 40 weeks and 2 days

I’ve come to terms with the fact that the baby is never coming out. I will be the first woman in the history of the world to remain pregnant forever. I’m actually okay with this. Aside from the swelling, finger pain, limited mobility, crazy-dreamed sleeplessness, continued weight gain (It’s all water, I swear!!), and moodiness (so I’ve been informed), I really have no urge to get this kid out.

He’s so safe in there, and is obviously very comfortable. No changing diapers, no crying, and no labor. See? Problem solved.

Now, SOME of you may say that it’s totally worth it, and that he’s going to come out sooner or later (likely in the next 2 weeks). I’m aware of this, and eagerly anticipate having a son, but definitely am content to wait til he’s ready. I’m eating great due to Mom and Granny, taking it easy, and enjoying this last time with Luke.

I’m on my way to breakfast with the crew- my favorite waiter at our favorite diner has been on baby watch with us, so I thought we’d give him an update.

Hope y’all are well, I’m looking forward to sending out that special email with a pictureΒ  in it- wish us luck!

Dear Grey,

This is Mama. You know me from the inside, but not yet from the outside. I promise, It’ll be quieter when you come out. We’ll do our best to help you deal with the bright and the cold and the hot. Your legs are strong, and growing stronger by the day- are you sure you don’t want to practice kicking somewhere with more space? Just checking. And that thing you keep grabbing/ gnawing on/ head butting/ WHATEVER YOU’RE DOING? That’s my cervix. I’d like to keep it, so be as gentle as you can. Aside from that, keep on keeping on! But do know, you have to come out. And soon. I refuse to be the Only Person On Earth that Stayed Pregnant Forever, and really, I cannot WAIT to see what you look like. A few other things I look forward to:

Wearing my rings

Wearing shoes

Taking ibuprofen for the TMJ I’ve had for 10 WEEKS!!!

Getting up from the couch without the mental, “One, two, THREE!!! HEAVE!!!”

Gripping a coffee mug in the morning without sausage fingers and carpal tunnel causing my hand to go numb

Rubbing your little feet and watching you kick like you do from the inside right now

Sharing you with your father

Smelling that delicious baby smell

Wearing pants

Finding out what you look like and seeing if you keep the same sleep patterns you’ve been following for the past 5 months

There are many other things, but these are the few that stand out at this moment. So with that, I ask that you come when you’re ready and let it be soon! We can’t wait to meet you!

Love, Your Mom
