He Done Got Himself Stuck

7 Months Have Come and Gone

This post is a bit sentimental, so bear with me.

This kid just won’t stop growing! I tell him to stop. He tries to stand and I debate pushing him over. He sprouts a few teeth and I simultaneously celebrate another milestone and mourn the loss of his gummy little grin (and toothless bites).

Our biggest development has been the arrival of Grey’s first two teeth! The first popped through on Friday, the second on Saturday. Just in time for G-man to turn 7 months. Along with the teeth came a voracious appetite for solids. This whole time, he’s been more like, “Meh.” when it came to cereal, veggies, purees, and crunchies. Now he watches and comments boisterously while I prepare his feasts, shouting instructions and to ‘Hurry up!’. He gapes his little mouth like a guppy and clamps down on the spoon as soon as it’s in his mouth. He holds banana halves and green beans and rips little chunks off with his sharp teeth.

He also scootches to the coffee table and pulls the toy box out like it’s his job. He also peeks through the legs of the table and laughs hysterically when we catch him watching us. He sits up with no problems at all, leaning in all directions, completely comfortable with his ability to pull himself back. He’s starting to lunge forward from sitting in an early attempt to crawl. It inevitably ends in a face plant, but now he doesn’t cry.

He sits on the floor and plays by himself for a solid 10-15 minutes, tasting and smooshing and thwacking his toys. This little creature is following my finger when I point to something new and tell him, “Look”. He is thinking and deciding and planning and experimenting. I’m completely overwhelmed by the thought of him being so independent, and I know it’ll get worse. And even better.

Here are some pictures of our big boy:

Poor zephyr is so gullible! You can see the moment she realizes she’s not just getting a friendly woodgie. Our pets may be annoying as heck, but they’re still awesome.

Noooooo!

He obviously didn’t pull himself up, but he’s getting mighty comfortable with standing and holding on to something. It’s going too fast.

NYE

Hello to All! Happy New Year!

2013 began with a slow and quiet whistle through the trees for us. We spent the past few days just hanging out around the house. Today was actually a super duper awesome cleaning day, with a little excursion built in. Good stuff. No hangovers, no party to clean up after, and the only sleep deprivation was related to Grey’s desire to ring in the new year in every time zone. Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific and on into the ocean. We all survived, and lots of naps were taken by everyone but mama. This means mama had some quiet couch time with some Irish Coffee.

Here are a few pictures:

This picture will be a full page spread in Grey’s graduating HS yearbook.

NYE Shenanigans- Mimi sent Grey this puppy that wraps around a rolled up blanket. In the last few days he’s been cracking up at any toys “acting like they are alive”. Not sure if he’s laughing at us or if he knows we’re the ones doing it. It’s super cute regardless.

We took turns lugging our little sack of potatoes through the snow. Uphill was surprisingly difficult!

Another gem. I’m so in love with my little family.

“Just make sure the box says Arizona, Michigan, or Texas on it. I’ll take it from there!”

We’ve been giving him pretty much everything to eat. He’s nom’d on big chunks of red bell pepper, banana, apples, and pears. He’s also tried and loves yogurt, cottage cheese and avocado chunks. Pretty much everything I eat makes its way into his paws in one form or another.

So there you have it. Life is good, baby is happy, parents are tired but happy. Cheers to the upcoming Best Year of My Life. It is made richer and lovelier by all of you.

He Said it On Camera!

Merry Christmas!

We did Christmas Eve with Heather and Tom and family. It was a really fun night- Grey did great, and had a blast with Heather, Kristen and Blaze (her old pup). The food was outstanding- Prime rib cooked perfectly. Luke was in heaven!

Today was quiet, but so nice. Grey woke us up around 530 with smiles and talking and bouncing. Really there’s no way to ignore all that cute. We had a few presents to open and managed to get them all in before naptime #1. After naptime we headed outside to hang out in the snow. Then some more time in front of the fire to play with our new toys.

Luke got me (us) nordic ski lessons and a day pass so we can go explore Gunstock Mountain. If we love it, nordic skiing is something we can do with Grey. If I wear one of Luke’s jackets, I can have Grey in there with me- how cozy!

Anywho, here are the pics from the day. The red sweater was knitted by Luke’s coworker, Cindy. It’s so incredible soft and fits him perfectly- definitely a memory box deposit after this winter.

I hope everyone’s Christmas was as happy as ours! Family, friends, and FAMILY. Grey got to skype with both sides and meet some new family members while he was at it. Skyping is so fun now. He recognizes both sets of grandparents and his cousins pretty easily. Very cute. I spend the whole time running interference- he LOVES pushing buttons and will routinely make the screen go blank. We’re getting it down though. All it takes is more practice. =)
