6 Months!

IMG_0057Rationally I know it’s No Big Deal, but we have kept a human being- who is completely dependent on us- alive and happy for a full six months. And we are still married.

The kid is just getting cuter and cuter- he’s great at sitting up, has rolled over a few more times (it’s still not high on his agenda), and is working on learning how to stick out his tongue. He’s still babbling only intermittently, but I distinctly heard “dadadada” the other day. *I feel a little crazy right now, but as I’m typing this he’s in my lap and just said it again. “dada”. All by itself. And now he’s back to cooing.* He’s still just playing with his food and eating a little. His favorites are banana/avocado smoothie and banana/hubbard squash mash. He also LOVES to eat giraffe. Good stuff.

We visited Santa last week but the pictures are on a very busy friend’s camera, so we may not see that before the new year.

Here are some pics from the appt. I love this one- he’s gotten REALLY quick on the draw, and stole the NP’s ID badge faster than she could react.

Watch “First Babbles” on YouTube

I can’t watch this without cracking up! Poor kid has been going all day (Thursdays he goes to my friend’s house while I work) and came home exhausted. He just had to get all this out before he fell asleep- he crashed hard about 7min after this video. Love it!

5 Months Was a Big One

We’re almost to 6 months but I never did a 5 month post! Here’s a bunch of pics. The best things are that he’s sitting up, eating solids, and SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT AGAIN! We started solids for real on his 5 month “birthday”. He’s had a bunch of stuff now (oatmeal, avocado, sweet potato, peas, spinach, butternut squash, banana, and prunes) and most prefers spinach/butternut mixed and banana/avocado smoothies. I think this helped with sitting up and sleeping as well, since they both showed up a few days later. He has a highchair that hooks to the island so he can sit there and watch me cook/blend/mix/strain his food. I have lots of stuff steamed, pureed and frozen so he’s eating like a king.

There’s lots of sitting up pics because he looks so cute doing it! And it’s done wonders with his happiness during the day. He can sit up and watch me from the bed while I get ready for the day. Like a little meerkat.

The sleep is a weird one, and I’m just hoping it sticks around. Could I be so lucky…?

He LOVES the mirror!

He has his balancing arm out. πŸ˜‰

We have a big bed, but he’s still pretty little. He’s still not mobile and we take full advantage.

Good morning!!

Hope everyone’s holidays are wonderful! Ours have been. =)

Thanksgiving 2012

Ok, bear with me as I try to dig myself out of a mountain of information. So much has happened since the last real post. We had Thanksgiving with Pa and Mimi Stafford and the Bunkers (Grey got to meet his Aunt, Uncle, and Cousins!)- Β It was so great to see him having so much fun with the full house!

Grey also turned 5 months, has a plethora of new skills, and had his Grandma and Grandpa Plapp out to visit from AZ, but more on these in the next few posts.

This pic is of Grey sitting in a pile of really cool new clothes that his Aunt Amy ordered for him. They’re adorable and so soft!

I love the little froggie butt.

Chomping the table… real sanitary, eh?

Grey had an absolutely wonderful time getting all the attention from his TX and Ann Arbor family. Aunt Amy sang Old McDonald with about 377 different animals (maybe not that many, but she did a great job making up new verses!), and taught us a new rhyme. The girls generously allowed lots of braid and ponytail chomping, Pa was the human bouncer, Byron saved Thanksgiving by doing the majority of the cooking on basically no notice, and Mimi had Grey imitating her and basically hanging on her every word!

Can’t wait for the next get together!

This kid is out of control! Oh, this is him this morning after waking me up much too early…

He definitely knows when mama’s too tired to deal with anything but cuteness.

Two Black Bears

Life: When you realize that the reason you wandered out into the dark because the dogs were barking was a mother bear cornered in an apple tree with her cub and now she’s decided to come down from the tree very quickly. You say “oh shit” and run for the house where your wife cackles hysterically. Only later do you find out she’s laughing because the bear actually fell out of the tree and landed on it’s butt.

The above is Luke’s status update from facebook just the other night. I haven’t laughed that hard in a very, VERY long time. The only regret is that there were no pictures. Unfortunately, the above pic was a googled image. I don’t think she was THAT fat. For those that have seen our backyard, the big tubby mama bear fell on her butt right in the middle of the apple tree triad. I’m assuming they were scavenging for the last of the apples. Baby bear scampered out a moment later, but we could hear that he had a bit more trouble climbing the fence.

So, lesson learned. Don’t plan on putting out bird feeders until AFTER thanksgiving (the NH game and fish dept says Nov 1). We have definitive proof that the bears are still out. Also, maybe just maybe, don’t go into the trees at night looking for a racoon or a barn cat… you might get more than you bargained for.

Trip to AZ

Ok- I had this post all written and all the captions on all the pics. I then lost it all. I don’t even remember how, just that Grey was awake and crying and I had lost my window. Ugh. So here’s the rundown:

We had a great time! Grey was loved on by all the big (AZ) players, and he got some super good quality time with Grandma and Grandpa. I was stressed out and sleep deprived but also really enjoyed seeing my little boy with all my (his) AZ loves. Here is the slide show- you will likely recognize yourself (HA!), and that’s as good as I can do for the moment. If I don’t just put it up, it’ll never happen. =)

We love you and miss you and will come back ASAP!
