Wooo! The cool thing about this week is that normal, healthy babies can be born at 24 weeks. That’s not to say I want our little pumpkin OUT, but that all is not lost if he.chose to come sooner rather than later.
He (and I) have put on lots of weight these past few weeks- I’m up to 17 pounds!
The belly button is still in- but about half the depth. The boy is bouncing- I put him to sleep at night and he gets me up most mornings.
I’ll post more as I think of it, but right now I’m headed to the big city to work on that blasted registry. It would help if I knew how half of that stuff works and *why* I need it. Wish me luck!

We’re headed home after a wonderful (but too short) trip to Arizona. On the way to the airport, I was sorting through my purse and discovered an alarming number of snacks. I don’t really recall sticking everything in here, but the end result is impressive. At the risk of embarrassing myself, I’ve decided to divulge the contents of a pregnant Sara’s purse:
– multiple servings of 3 varieties of girl scout cookies (yes, thin mints.)
– dark chocolate chocolate chunk cookies (my mom got them from the health food store, so they qualify as my daily serving of “health”)
– 3 packs of peanut butter crackers
– a full sandwich bag of spicy chex mix
– a family sized bag of twizzlers (down to the dregs)
– one granola bar (for Luke)
– one half of a protein bar (for emergency use only)
– one pack of nutty bars
– half a bag of sour patch kids
– one mostly empty bottle of zantac (I can’t imagine why I would need antacids…)
– 2 heat packs (my poor back!)
– an eyemask and earplugs (if I stop snacking long enough to sleep)
– my kindle
Shhh… Don’t tell the other passengers or they’ll be on me like a pack of dogs. And everyone knows: don’t EVER eat a pregnant lady’s food.

I kind of love this picture. We’re at my parents’ house in Arizona for the week, and so I can’t take a blackboard pic. I love the bay window in this house, and I had the camera sitting on a glass table. Kind of fun and different. Like this week. 🙂
Biggest highlight: mom feeling and seeing the little guy move around.
Lowlight: I can’t travel like I used to. Lots of tylenol and heat packs and I’m back to normal after a few days. We hiked 6miles on Sunday and man, this Weeble can waddle! My family broke the news… I no longer walk like a homo sapien, more like a member of the family, Spheniscidae (penguin). Ah, well.
Don’t know how much I’ve gained, but I’m growing fast. Belly button is still in for the time being. No cravings, but loving the girl scout cookies mom snagged for us. 🙂
Life is good. See you all on the flip side!

That’s Change= A couple extra days, and Change= Man, my belly is HUGE!
Hey Everyone!
We’ve been busy working on the house (new post to follow), tromping around in the snow and ice, attending the Pond Hockey Tournament, watching our new football team lose, and working.
It’s been 2 weeks since we found out that our little baby is indeed a Cornelius Maximus. We’re still totally excited, and I love being able to call him “he” without silently apologizing to the potential girl in there. Did that make sense?
Little guy is kicking and rolling up a storm in there- Luke feels him regularly now. I was lying in bed a week ago, enjoying my personal dance performance, when it occurred to me that he was probably moving enough to see from the outside. Sure enough, the kicks and rolls are clearly visible! I can’t believe I didn’t try sooner! And just in time for our visit to AZ. =)
The pic this week is a little startling to me. I looked the same and went 3 weeks without gaining a pound, and then gained about 3 pounds and as many inches in a week. Whew! I’ve been sleeping a ton, so it’s not a surprise that a growth spurt was on the horizon. I noticed last week while watching little Neiman Leroy move, that I can no longer see the underside of my belly. And that my belly has an underside. =/
How far along? 22 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: +12.4lbs
Stretch marks? Not so far.
Sleep: Sleeping great!
Best moment this week: Watching him from the outside. =)
Miss Anything? Nope. Not this week.
Movement: Yes!! I spend evenings watching my belly pop and roll around.
Food cravings: I’ve been eating a ton of cottage cheese with pineapple or peaches.
Anything making you queasy or sick: No, but the heartburn is here. =(
Gender: It’s been made official, We’re having a BOY!! You know, in case you haven’t heard. =)
Belly Button in or out? Still in.
Wedding rings on or off? On almost exclusively. The day after Chinese food is another story.
Happy or Moody most of the time: Eh. Moody. It’s been kind of a rough hormone week, but I can feel it lifting. =)
Looking forward to: Visiting family in AZ this weekend! Can’t wait!

We had our anatomy scan and our perfect little person is just that. An absolutely perfect little person. All the parts were in the right place, doing what they were supposed to be doing. Here’s a really cute profile:
Soooooo? Our little person was very stubborn, and spent a good portion of the ultrasound with his or her legs closed demurely.
Because I’m a good little blogger, and I know how eager YOU all were to know if it was a boy or a girl, I decided to take matters into my own hands, and poked the crap out of the kid. Maybe this is an exaggeration, maybe not. Only Me and Luke and the Ultrasound tech know for sure. And we’re not telling. The good thing, is that kiddo needed only a jab to the knees to give up the goods. So. Are we wearing ruffle butts or golf shirts and loafers?
We’re having a BOY!!! Is anyone surprised? I’m not. I may have had a 50/50 chance of being right, but for the life of me I couldn’t see anything but a boy. We are so incredibly thrilled to have a healthy baby in there, and are now even more eager to meet the little guy.
So here’s the money shot that our tech so patiently waited for:
His left leg is up and the dark spot is his belly and bowel. And I think the rest is pretty self explanatory, and the first of many embarrassing photos that will grace this blog in the next several years. =)
A few times he kicked or turned while we were watching him and I felt it at the same time- such a thing to wrap your brain around! I also know now that his head is down, and he’s facing mostly out- with his little legs crossed just below my belly button. I know he doesn’t stay there exclusively, but it was crazy to see how cramped he really is! I was imagining flips and turns and him gliding across my spacious uterus. Turns out most of that movement is just arms and legs and a butt wagging around! Kind of puts things in perspective.
So there it is. We’re totally in love with our little guy- and now must start a serious name search. We had all kinds of great girl names, but boy names are harder. Send ideas our way! I hear Robert Winston is on the market, right Boompa? It DOES have a lovely ring to it… =)

This will be a quicky because I have another blog post to do this week… our anatomy scan is tomorrow and Luke and I are THRILLED to see all the teeny tiny parts that make up our perfect little person. We’ll also be finding out whether we need lots of floofy ruffle-butt bloomers or lots of handsome little overalls/tiny loafers. I’m not sure why, but if we have a boy I imagine him dressed as a tiny old man. Maybe we can find him some polyester golf shirts while we’re at it.
Luke is just as excited as I am, as baby has been communicating with HIM the past week or so as well. He gets a few thumps goodnight most days, and loves the interaction. My Darling Heather has also gotten a few “hello’s” in. It’s such a tease, because now I want them to be able to feel it ALL the time. Soon enough. All our trips out west are coming up, so we’ll have a baby kicking/thumping/flipping/wiggling love fest!
How far along? 20 Weeks
Total weight gain/loss: ~9-10lbs
Stretch marks? Not so far.
Sleep: Sleeping great!
Best moment this week: Luke feeling the baby for the first time. He was a little startled. It was so fun!!
Miss Anything? My sushi cravings have come back. I keep telling myself I’m gonna do it!!
Movement: Yes!! Bug is busy.
Food cravings: Big (like, crazy big) salads with everything but the kitchen sink thrown on there.
Anything making you queasy or sick: Nope!
Have you started to show yet: Yes! We were out to eat at our favorite diner and our favorite waiter came up and asked me if I was [rubs his belly]. I laughed and said yes, thinking he was pretty brave to ask such a thing, when he said, “I could see you doing The Belly Rub from across the room!” His wife just had another baby and so he knows The Belly Rub. haha!
Gender prediction: Still leaning towards boy… I’ve been doing the gender predicting stuff. Ruby’s prediction is still out. =P
Belly Button in or out? In, but it feels kind of… hard? Along the top edge. not sure what that means, but it feels weird to the touch.
Wedding rings on or off? On
Happy or Moody most of the time:Â Happy! And energetic! Wooooooo!
Looking forward to: The anatomy scan! I can’t wait to see our kid again! It’s like Skype for bellies.

It’s been a busy week again- Not complaining! My Mama and Papa made it out all the way from AZ for a little visit. It was so fun to finally be able to show them our house and town! It snowed about 8 inches on their first day, then had about every other weather pattern on the 2nd day (snow, sleet, “wintery mix”, wind, sun, fog, and I’m sure some others). It was nice, because we hadn’t had any snow since Thanksgiving, when Frank and Sandy were out to visit. New Hampshire has good manners, and gives the warm weather crew a taste of winter. =)
Little Gryffindor or Hufflepuff has been VERY active. It’s kind of a game now to get Luke to feel the movements. Seems like most of the time, baby stops when Luke puts his hand on my belly. He’s always had a calming influence. 😉
On to the pic:
Can we just take a minute to appreciate the ADORABLE hat my mom knitted me for Christmas?? I may have to compete with my child for cute knitted goods! And I will put up a FIGHT.
So the baby is 6 inches long. The crazy thing, is that’s only from head to butt. S/he is actually over 10.5 inches long all stretched out. It’s blowing my mind! Also, baby can now hear me talking. Probably won’t hear Luke til s/he comes out unless he starts talking louder. =P
So, I’m 19w, have gained about 9lbs, can feel the movement, rings are on, belly button is in… I can’t remember the other stuff. Definitely in maternity pants full time, shirts about 1/2 time. Most looking forward to our anatomy scan on the 24th!! I can’t wait to see the little bug again. Maybe there’s a fu manchu or pierced ears in there. Or a Phish t-shirt. Or maybe it’s a girl and she’s flipping me off for calling her a boy this whole time!! Maybe… Maybe! So much to see. =)
Love to All!! Gonna go catch some couch time with my Baby Daddy. Ta-ta!!

New Years was absolutely fabulous this year- I had my two favorite nieces and one of my best friends out to visit. We managed to stay out of trouble, and have a TON of fun in the process. Here are some favorite pics:

An Icy, Icy Hike. Did I mention there was ice? Zephyr was on her belly more than she was on her feet!!

In Boston, on the Charles river. Just over our shoulder is MIT. Lots of smart people on the OTHER side of the river. =P

We were treated to free drinks and appies at our hotel because our room wasn't ready. We only had one drinker, so she made it count: Smore's Martini. It was on fire and everything!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Man. I really missed out not being able to kiss this sweet face at the stroke of midnight. 😉 Gotta love him.

And we expose skin for a photo. Bad idea. You probably can't see it, but my hair was damp- and frozen solid. I

Finally, Z got a chance to check out the marsh. I'm sure she was hoping for a stinky wet swim, but she got this instead and didn't seem to mind. =)
Happy Me. Thanks girls!
